The best airport to fly into for Annapolis, Maryland, is Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), which is the closest at about a 30-minute drive. From the airport, you can either rent a car or take an Uber/Lyft.

Other airport options include Ronald Reagan Washington National Airpot (DCA) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). DCA is about 45 minutes to an hour away, while IAD is approximately an hour to an hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic.

Travel times can vary based on time of day and mode of transportation, so we recommend checking schedules and traffic conditions in advance.

Transportation will be provided to and from Downtown Annapolis and Sherwood Forest for the ceremony and reception.

If you are not staying at one of the designated shuttle locations, we recommend walking or using Uber/Lyft to reach the closest shuttle stop. The shuttle will be the easiest and most affordable transportation method for entering Sherwood Forest.

If you plan to drive yourself, please visit the Q+A section for directions and parking guidance. Sherwood Forest can be tricky to navigate on a first visit, so please allow extra time.

Sherwood 9 is a sand-green course. For those who are unfamiliar, there are an estimated 100 sand-green courses left in the United States, mostly nine-holers that offer about as basic a golf experience as anyone can have. Situated in small towns like Sherwood Forest, sand-green courses are about camaraderie and competition, not finely manicured turf or fancy clubhouses.

On the border of the Annapolis and Crownsville city lines, a small tavern named “Rudy’s” (IYKYK) was purchased in 2004 to become Rams Head Roadhouse. This community staple continues to serve up good times and wild nights. As our favorite spot outside the forest for keeping the party going, it was the obvious choice for the After Party.

For those planning to go to the After Party, transportation will be provided from the Reception to Rams Head, and later from Rams Head back to downtown Annapolis.

How do we get to Sherwood Forest for the ceremony?

If you choose to drive or Uber/Lyft directly to the ceremony instead of taking the shuttle, please note that entering Sherwood Forest can be a bit confusing for first-time visitors. To find Beach Road where the ceremony will be, we recommend entering 405 Alan A Dale Rd, Sherwood Forest, MD 21405 into your navigation. We will have signage and attendants on site to help guide you once in The Forest.

Finally, Sherwood Forest is a gated community and a code will be required for entry. The gate code is #3136 with the pound sign first. We will text all important details (including transportation updates) to everyone on the day of the wedding.

What time does the ceremony start?

The ceremony begins promptly at 4:30pm. We recommend arriving no later than 4:15pm so that you can easily find a seat.

If you choose to drive yourself or to Uber/Lyft, we recommend budgeting more time. As we’ve mentioned, entry to Sherwood Forest can be confusing for first-time visitors.

What is the dress code?

Our dress code is cocktail attire — think elevated yet fun, with bright colors encouraged! Ladies, keep in mind that the ceremony will be by the water (weather permitting) and there will be some grass, so choose your footwear accordingly. We want everyone to feel stylish and fabulous while celebrating with us.

What will the weather be like?

Mid-May in Annapolis, Maryland typically brings beautiful spring weather with mild to warm temperatures averaging between 60°F and 75°F. May can also be unpredictable so it’s a good idea to check the weather beforehand and bring a wrap or light jacket just in case.
